PaidUp is a pre-launch mobile app for people who pay a shared bill and need to collect each person's share. Our work covers the React Native app, its API and the supporting marketing site.

THE BRIEF

The work behind PaidUp.

A shared expense can stay unresolved long after the original payment. The app connects an imported transaction to the people involved, the amount each person owes and the current state of the request.

The build targets iOS and Android through React Native. This is a development case study, not a claim of app-store availability, live payment volume or financial-services certification.

PRODUCT SCOPE

What we built.

Connected transactions

A Plaid Link integration connects an account to the transaction-import workflow. The API supports transaction sync, account refresh and disconnecting a linked account.

Flexible splits

The app supports equal, custom and percentage-based splits. Separate participant and overall split states describe pending, partial, settled and cancelled requests.

Requests and reminders

Venmo deep links hand a payment request to the payment app. Contact management and push-notification support connect requests to reminders and status updates.

Account lifecycle

Email, Google and Apple sign-in paths sit alongside profile settings and account deletion. A separate responsive website introduces the product.

Model each participant separately.

A group bill can be partly settled. Participant states preserve that detail instead of forcing the whole expense into a single paid-or-unpaid field.

Keep the payment hand-off explicit.

Opening a Venmo request is one step in the workflow. It should not be confused with independent confirmation that money reached the recipient.
